Drivetrain Rebuild

The drivetrain is an essential component of moving the vehicle forward. It occupies the space behind the transmission and controls the amount of torque. Its primary role is to ensure power transmission from the engine to the wheels through the transmission system.

Other terms used to indicate it include driveline and powertrain. However, there may be a slight difference in the meanings. The powertrain also includes the transmission and the engine, while the driveline refers to the other individual components.

Issues with drivetrain

The driveline of vehicles varies depending on their types. For example, front-wheel drivelines are different from the rear-wheel types. However, all types are prone to issues caused by heavy use and harsh climatic conditions. The effect of moisture, heat, and pressure also affects the driveline.

It leads to worn-out gear systems and lubrication failure. This wearing out eventually leads to a drop in engine performance. It also causes a noisy and rough engine. Regular maintenance of the drivetrain components is crucial to avoid engine component failure.

We can handle all sorts of drivetrain problems at our Sugar Land facility. Our team of certified mechanics has extensive experience in drivetrain maintenance and repairs. We run a facility certified by the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence).

We specialize in drivetrain maintenance and rebuilding for heavy vehicles. The technicians are familiar with all individual components of the drivetrain, including differential, axle shafts, universal joints, driveshaft, and the transmission.

    Differential repair work

The differential is the final transmission point for the engine’s power before it moves the wheels. The differential causes the wheels to turn.

    Axle shaft repair work

These refer to the rotating shafts positioned on either side of the differential. These shafts facilitate power transmission from the drive assembly to the wheels.

    U-joint repair work

The universal joint is a flexible pivot point for delivering power to the driveshaft. The drivetrain also consists of CV joints of constant velocity joints. CV joints in the driveshaft can bend in any direction while the drive wheels maintain a steady velocity.

    Driveshaft repair work

The driveshaft refers to the long steel tube connecting the transmission to the wheels and vice versa. The purpose of the driveshaft is to transmit mechanical energy from the transmission to other drivetrain components.

    Transmission repair work

The role of the transmission is to utilize the mechanical output of the engine for turning the wheels. The transmission system consists of interlocking gears contributing to the efficiency of the crankshaft. Since it is one of the most active parts of the vehicle, the transmission system is prone to wear and tear.

This is particularly true in heavy machinery. Transmission troubles can escalate to the point of total malfunction of the machine. Therefore, it is important to keep a close watch on the early signs of transmission trouble.

    Common symptoms of drivetrain issues

A usual sign of drivetrain damage is when you have problems turning the vehicle. You may also notice vibrations and shudders in the equipment. Another general indication is the coming of irregular sounds from the back part of the vehicle. In addition, you may notice fluid leakage due to a drivetrain problem. Bring your vehicle to our Sugar Land facility before the problem becomes too severe to cause a complete breakdown. We have the expertise and the experience for total drivetrain rebuild.
